Known limitations

Clinical.ink ships improvements frequently, but a few limitations are worth noting so you can plan your workflows and set expectations.

Audio capture & processing

  • File size ceiling – Audio files above roughly 25 MB cannot be processed. Compress or split long recordings before uploading.
  • Browser support – Live recording is supported in Chromium-based browsers. Safari and Firefox users can upload recordings instead.
  • ffmpeg dependency – If you are running the desktop recorder locally, ensure ffmpeg is installed so audio can be compressed when needed.
  • Per-encounter uploads – Free and Basic plans allow one file per encounter. Upgrade if you need to attach multiple files to the same visit.

Language & model coverage

  • Audio languages – English and Spanish are fully supported. Other languages will fall back to Spanish transcription for now.
  • Document templates – Built-in templates cover SOAP and H&P notes plus prescriptions and referrals. Specialty-specific templates require manual customization inside the Draftboard.
  • Chat quotas – Chat access is metered per plan. Expect throttling once your monthly or per-encounter allowance is exhausted.

Real-time features

  • No live captions – Transcripts are generated after recording/upload completes. Live captioning is not yet available.
  • No direct EHR push – Notes must be exported (TXT, PDF, Word, or copy/paste) before they can be added to your EHR.

Integrations & billing

  • Paddle delays – Rarely, billing updates can lag while Paddle confirms payment. Use the Sync billing button if subscription status looks out of date.
  • Seat caps – Invitations are blocked once your plan’s seat limit is reached. Remove inactive members or upgrade to add more teammates.

Roadmap awareness

  • Role granularity – Current roles are owner and member. Viewer or billing-only roles are planned but not yet available.
  • Internationalization – The app interface supports English and Spanish. Additional languages are on the roadmap.
  • Offline access – Clinical.ink requires an active internet connection. Offline capture and queued uploads are not supported today.
