Getting started
Clinical.ink is an ambient AI assistant that turns medical encounters into structured clinical documentation. Follow the steps below to set up your workspace, record encounters, and review results in the web app at app.clinical.ink.
1. Sign in (or start a guided demo)
- Visit app.clinical.ink.
- Choose Continue with Auth0 to authenticate with your organization account, or select Start demo to explore with sample data.
- On first sign-in Clinical.ink automatically creates a personal organization, assigns you the owner role, and provisions the Free plan. Owners can invite teammates later from Settings → Organization.
- Complete the onboarding tour to learn the layout. You can reopen it from Help → Guided tour at any time.
2. Understand the workspace layout
The main workspace is divided into focused panels:
- Top bar – access account settings, subscription status, notifications, and help.
- Record panel – start or stop live recordings and monitor audio levels.
- Audio sidebar – browse uploaded or recorded files for the current encounter with playback controls.
- Draftboard – view transcripts, structured highlights, and generated clinical notes. You can edit documents directly before exporting.
- Chat panel – ask the copilot for clarifications, follow-up questions, or summaries (subject to your plan’s chat allowance).
3. Capture or upload audio
Record live consultations
- Click Record audio to capture from your default microphone (Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers are recommended).
- Use the preprocessing toggles in Settings → Processing if you want recordings to be automatically compressed, accelerated, or split while they upload.
- When you stop the recording, it is added to the encounter and processed automatically. Temporary files are removed after the job finishes.
Upload existing files
- Drag files into the workspace or choose Upload file in the audio sidebar.
- Supported formats include WAV, MP3, MP4, M4A, WebM, and OGG.
- Files larger than roughly 25 MB are rejected by the transcription service, so compress long recordings before uploading.
- Long sessions can be split into smaller segments automatically (enable Split audio in Processing settings).
4. Configure transcription and drafting
Open Settings → Processing to tailor each stage of the pipeline:
- Toggle automatic transcription, diarization, structuring, and drafting.
- Choose the input audio language and the target language for notes (English and Spanish are fully supported).
- Pick document templates such as SOAP, H&P, prescriptions, or referrals.
- Select preferred AI models when your plan includes multiple options.
5. Manage session files
- Use the Files button in the top bar (folder icon) to Save, Save As…, or Open
.clink
session bundles without uploading data to our servers. - Save updates the previously selected file when the browser supports File System Access. Save As… always downloads a new
.clink
archive so you can keep checkpoints. - Autosave runs every ~20 seconds by default. If you reload unexpectedly, restore the latest backup from the Files menu. Disable it anytime under Settings → General → Autosave local session.
Safari downloads each save to the default folder. Switch Safari to “Ask for each download” in Settings → General if you prefer to choose the location manually.
6. Review outputs
After processing completes you will see:
- Transcription – timestamped text with semantic speaker labels.
- Structured excerpt – extracted clinical entities and sections that can be exported or copied.
- Documents – editable notes rendered in a rich text editor, ready to export as TXT, PDF, or Word.
- Chat responses – the copilot stays aware of the current encounter so you can ask follow-up questions.
All edits are saved locally until you export or copy the content. Use the toolbar inside each document to share, download, or print.
7. Manage your organization
- Invite teammates from Settings → Organization → Invite member. Invitations respect the seat limit for your current plan.
- Monitor usage in Settings → Subscription, where you can see encounters remaining, chat tokens, and plan details.
- Update billing or change plans from the same subscription screen. Upgrades take effect immediately once payment is confirmed.
8. Need help?
Return to this help center from Help → Documentation in the app, or email support@clinical.ink. Include your organization slug and encounter ID if you need us to investigate a specific session.
